River Maun, Walesby, Nottinghamshire...

Situated within Walesby Scout Camp north of Ollerton this small river offers members the chance to fish a small river. Ideally suited to the often forgotten art of trotting. The pegs at the top end of the stretch near to the bridge are fairly easily accessed and offer mainly small fish. Some sections are too shallow to fish, however at the lower end of the stretch, behind the scout camp lake there are some deeper holes that contain some better quality Roach and Chub.

There are also Dace, Perch, Gudgeon and the odd Pike and Barbel. Due to the nature of the fishing and the length of the river it is advisable to take a minimal amount of tackle.

Very strict riles apply to fishing at this venue. You must report to the Scout Camp HQ both before and after fishing (tel no 01623 860202)

How to get there...

From Ollerton roundabout take the A614 north for 1 mile. Turn right at the sign for Walesby. Along this road is a hump back bridge, this is the start of the water. (right bank looking downstream).

Parking is just inside the gate 100 yards past the bridge. The Scout Camp HQ is approx ½ mile beyond the bridge on the left.
