Thurlby Gravel Pit

Thurlby Gravel Pit, Nr Swinderby, Lincolnshire...

This Gravel Pit is very popular with Pike Anglers. Although there is a good possibility that other species of coarse fish are present the Sheer size of the water makes them difficult to find. The Pike are Reported to reach 20lbs and fall to various methods. It should be noted however, that as with all association waters, Live Baiting is Not allowed. At the moment fishing is limited to the bank furthest from The access point but cars may be taken around the perimeter track and parked behind the pegs. As this water is shared with Newark Canoe Club there is a combination lock fitted. Members wishing to fish this water Should contact the secretary before travelling to obtain the correct combination.

How to get there...

From Newark take the A46 towards Lincoln. At the Halfway House roundabout turn right and continue along this road to a T junction. Turn right and follow the road to a sharp left hand bend, at the next right hand bend the access gate is in front of you.
