River Trent, Shelford, Nottinghamshire...

Our longest stretch of river at around 4.5 miles, this starts below Stoke weir and continues down to the boatyard at Gunthorpe. Very large Shoals of Bream to 8lbs are the main quarry as well as very big Barbel (one cought in a match July 04 at 13lb 1oz).

There are also some very good float fishing sections around the Stoke Ferry Lane end section and Roach Dace Skimmers and Gudgeon are caught in nets to 20lbs with favourable conditions.

How to get there...

From Lowdham roundabout take the A6097 towards Gunthorpe Bridge. Turn right into Manor Road just over the bridge. There is a large car park about a mile down this road. For the Stoke Ferry Lane area continue into Shelford Village and turn right into Church Street, then right again into Stoke Ferry Lane. This is again a large car park at the end of the lane. Day tickets are available on the bank.
